Senior Wrestler Dominic Lobo Captures Trinity League Title

On Friday, February 4, senior wrestler Dominic Lobo captured the Trinity League title in the 145-pound weight class by defeating Noah Segura from Servite, ranked #17 in the state.  Lobo's win capped a day where the Lancers wrestling squad had eight members qualify for the CIF-SS Regionals, a school record.

Regular Season

Lobo had a stellar regular season en route to his Trinity League title.  He took home 1st place at 138 lbs in the season-opening Costa Mesa Classic.  Lobo would win two more times this season, once at the Blackwatch and the other at the Laguna Hills Invite.  He is currently ranked 32nd in the state in the 138-pound weight class.

CIF Regionals

Lobo finished 4th in the 145lb weight class at the CIF-SS Regionals.  His finish was good enough to earn him a spot in the CIF Masters meet.

CIF Masters

The CIF Masters meet took place on Friday, February 18, and Saturday, February 19, at Sonora High School.  The meet featured the best wrestlers in Southern California as they vied for a spot in the CIF State tournament.  Dominic Lobo entered the meet off a 4th place finish in the Regionals the week prior.

He opened the tournament with two straight wins on Friday over Joe Irigoyen of Warren High School and Noah Zuniga of Trabuco Hills High School.  Lobo fell to Jacob Salcedo of Northview High School in the quarterfinals and was put into the consolation bracket.  He dropped the next two matches and did not make the top 9 required to advance to the State Finals.

Overall, Lobo will leave Orange Lutheran as one of the most decorated wrestlers in school history.  He finished the season with a 36-9 overall record and 29 pins, a new school record.
