Preseason

After last season's success, the girls golf team entered the 2022 season with high expectations.  Building off of a 2nd place league finish and 3rd place at CIF Division 2 playoffs, the Lancers, returned the core of the team, including five seniors.

Regular Season

Out of the gate, the Lancers were red hot.  They won their first 8 matches of the season, including sweeping fellow Division 1 school Edison.  The Lancers shot five scores in the 180s, which is less than +10 overall as a group, in the first eight contests.  The highlight came on September 6 when OLu shot a school record +1 in a 181-213 win over Edison.

In the season's first tournament, OLu traveled to Palm Springs to participate in the Chappy Wheeler Tournament.  In a group of 8 schools, the Lancers rallied from 4th place after day 1 to finish 2nd overall, beating out perennial CIF contender Diamond Bar.

Back in Orange County, the girls rolled off three more wins and a 3rd place finish at the Rainbow Sandals Tournament.  The Lancers were 11-0 heading into Trinity League play.

In league, OLu swept Mater Dei, JSerra, and Rosary but fell top-ranked Santa Margarita twice. The Lancers finished 2nd in league for the 2nd straight year ending the regular season with a 17-2 record.

In the middle of league play, OLu played in the 24-team Ayala Classic at Western Hills Country Club and finished 1st, beating out several other top teams.  The Lancers shot a team score of 386 (+16).  The group consisted of seniors Alexia Egdahl, Stella Fergin, Riley Shin, junior Jayne Sung, and sophomores Mason Egdahl and Audrey Sung.  Individually, Jayne Sung finished 3rd overall.

Postseason

At the two-day Trinity League Finals Individual Tournament, OLu had two players qualify for individual CIF.  Sophomore Mason Egdahl finished 5th, and senior Alexia Egdahl finished 8th.  The Lancers also had seniors Riley Shin, Stella Fergin, and Alice Zhou finish in the top 16 after advancing to day 2.

On October 31, the Lancers played in the CIF Division 1 team competition at the Huntington Club.  The top 8 teams would advance to the CIF Southern Section Finals on Thursday, November 3.  OLu finished 5th overall out of a competition of 20 teams.  They shot 389 (+29) as a group.  The scores were Alexia Egdahl (74), Riley Shin (75), Jayne Sung (78), Mason Egdahl (79), Stella Fergin (83), and Audrey Sung (96).

In the CIF Section Finals on Thursday, the Lancers shot a team score of 417, which was good for 10th overall.  The Lancers finished 17 shots back of the qualifying spots for the CIF State Regional.  OLu ends their historic season with a 17-2 record, a 2nd-place league finish, a tournament victory, and a long playoff run.
