Meet a Lancer: Kayleigh Gilbert '22

Kayleigh Gilbert '22 first stepped into the Nechita Center in 2017 when she attended a performance of Cinderella while considering Orange Lutheran for her high school experience.

At the end of the performance, she looked at her parents and said, "Seriously, this is an option?"

Kayleigh is now a four-year member and Editor-in-Chief of OLu's yearbook, a member of National Honor Society, and Lead Critic for the Cappies, all while maintaining a 4.1 GPA.

She credits her Performing Arts experience for all of her friendships and lifelong friends. She has several options for her next chapter and plans to study Psychology or Sociology.

Favorite moment on the Nechita stage:

Bowing on stage as "Alice" in Alice in Wonderland on Opening Night. Because of Covid, the understudy was activated, and I was tasked to learn the part in less than a week. Crazy experience, but one that I will cherish, realizing, "I did it!"

When you're not performing, what are you doing?

Doing homework, working at my job, or reading a murder mystery or thriller!

Finish this sentence - Ten years from now, I want to be...

...working towards my career while also being happy in life, in my relationships, and while continuing to meet my goals.

What teacher made the most impact on you and why?

Ms. Everhart because she pushed me to grow throughout my four years! I'm so grateful for the advice she has given me as she continues to teach that "No role is too small" and that a lesson can be learned from each and every opportunity.

What inspires you?

The people around family, friends, and my school.

What's something people would be surprised to know about you?

I like alternative rock music!

Favorite Bible Verse:

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded. -2 Chronicles 15:77
