OLu boys soccer became CIF State Regional Champions for the first time in program history with a 2-0 win over Littlerock on Saturday evening at Orange Coast College’s Lebard Stadium.
In a rematch of the CIF-SS Championship game from just 10 days prior, the Lancers again shut out the Lobos behind the stellar goalkeeping duo of sophomore Ayden Santana and junior Dillan Danks.
After a scoreless first half, it was senior Jayden Jimenez who got the Lancers on the board when he converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute.
Senior Hayden Snyder doubled up the lead for OLu with his own penalty kick conversion in the 60th minute.
Danks closed the door on Littlerock’s late-game push with several key saves to keep the Lobos scoreless.
The title win capped off a historic season that saw the Lancers go 20-6-2, including a season-ending eight-game win streak. OLu’s CIF-SS Title win on February 23 was the program’s first CIF championship since 1999.
And now, the Lancers can also call themselves State Champs.
